The Treasure by blue-willow The Treasure by blue-willow
Wow, I did a pic of mermaids after years! My latest mermaid was drawn in 2006 or something I guess :O But I don't know why I stopped drawing them, it is so fun :D I blame those fairies!!

Anyways, this is my -very late- part of art trade with :iconpoetic-dragon:. Sorry it took me so long :aww:

The theme was a couple of mermaids frolicking in the water, and I thought of two mermaid sisters who found a deep sea treasure and having fun with it :) One of them is a bit obsessed with pearls, and the other is looking for something more deep down the chest  It was harder to work with multiple figures, but also fun.

I hope you all like my mermaids-after-a-very-long-time :D

I really like this. I love the use of colors (blues, greens) and I like how you paid attention to the details in their skin, clothing, faces and the treasure chest. Nice work! :)

Thank you soo much dear  I'm glad you like my mermaids!
The paper is a A4 size watercolor paper, not a big one, I'm very fond of A4 or A5 sizes or sometimes even smaller ones :D

Why don't you make ACEO? It's a real fight, for the details, but it's fantastic to painting with this smmmmmmaalll size! :eager:

Actually, I planned to work with ACEO sizez and even prepared proper sized papers for that purpose but in the end I didn't one yet :D Though I have some smaller size drawings and sketchbooks, some of the papers I have are half-size of an ACEO card :giggle: I should really work on them I guess :D

This is really great. It is such a challenge drawing more than one figure and making them work, but you did a great job! I love the hair of the one who loves pearls! The tails are also super cool.

Thank you very much! I'm glad you like the tails, I didn't want to do classical mermaid tails and a bit experimented on them :D

Heee, a really nice pic. I love the colors and water that looks like water! Nice to see something so complicated done in traditional media (in my opinion underwater scenes are hard...)
I like the mermaid who's facing down :aww: (other one looks a bit too stiff for me liking). They both got quite an interesting tale-endings...
